Normally I spend time with this beauty at Club sport where she cracks the whip during our personal training sessions or makes sure I get my groove on during her dance class. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she never misses an opportunity to heap all kinds of encouragement and wisdom on me.  On this particular day I captured her out of context and found she shines in any light you put her in. Thanks Kelly for being such a beautiful inspiration!

What’s on the long list of to-do’s when you come home from college for the holidays? Well, when acting is your passion and you spend as much time as possible on the stage, it would be Update your Headshot!  Now Lucien will have some shiny new 8x10 glossies to leave at auditions. And I look forward to the day when I can say, “I knew him when!"

I had the recent pleasure of photographing this busy girl, who juggles her time between work and school. I also learned that she wasn't only blessed with this beautiful face, but has quite a voice to go with it.  Her passion for singing has landed her several leads in local theater and a position in the Pacific University Choir. I have a feeling I'll be hearing her around!

・The Annual Seabold Bonfire・

Each year around this time our family gathers to celebrate fall with a big bonfire. Up in a blaze of flames goes fallen branches from our property and anything else that has been delegated to the burn pile throughout the year. But mostly it's an excuse to get together and share hot soup, roast marshmallows and usher in the new season. We think it's a tradition worth hanging on to!

• The Parkers •

I spent a recent morning with the fun Parker family at Cathedral Park in the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland.

When a photo shoot starts out with this kind of unharnessed energy I always wonder if I'll be able to rein it in. But these three little live wires quickly settled down to business and completely charmed me with their sunny smiles and silliness.

• Oregon Grape Harvest 2014 •

I love living in Oregon wine country. Especially when just across the road is the Sufi Vineyard, owned and operated by Keyvan and Vicki Abtin. Judging by the class act operation that they run, I'm certain they have found their passion. It shows in the meticulously cared for vines and their hands on approach to growing the little purple beauties.

After spending several mornings at the vineyard I could't help but notice the reciprocal respect between these grape growers and the many workers who help them bring in the harvest. Its quite telling to know that Keyvan couldn't resist stopping in the field on his way out, dressed for work in slacks and a starched shirt and tie, to pick the first bucket of  the 2014 harvest. Some things you just don't want to miss out on. And it didn't go unnoticed that Vicki layed out a huge lunch spread for the pickers. They're just that kind of people.

As for me, I'm patiently waiting to sample the fruits of all the labor that's been going on around here. Cheers!

• Mary-Claire •

In an effort to beat the glare of the high summer sun, we headed off bright and early on a jaunt into the woods. I loaded a chair in to the back of the Ranger, Mary-Claire threw her bag of wardrobe changes in, and off we went. After mowing down brambles and branches we arrived at the spot I'd envisioned as a backdrop for these portraits. Although, I'm quite sure this face would have been stunning most anywhere.

The "Women and Horses" Series - Charlene

When I arrived at Charlene's home at 7:00 am she, her grand daughter Taylor, and her two horses, Kate and Takoda were all groomed and ready to be photographed. Talk about having an eye for beauty - even her property was meticulous and looked like something out of a story book.

I love that Charlene has passed on her connection with these beautiful animals to her grand daughters and opened up a whole world of experience for them. And along the way … created amazing memories!

The Need for Speed

Several weeks shy of his second birthday this toddler has mastered his balance bike. Who knew that tiny tots would find success on two wheels by riding a bike with no peddles? Amazing to watch this little one sailing along on his own at such a young age.

Finally … a still moment.

A vacation at the coast for this busy mom means tossing the football on the beach with her husband and two boys, endless exploring for treasure, countless games of chess and checkers, and mastering the art of a perfectly roasted marshmallow. Here I captured a rare moment of stillness, gazing out to sea.

The Next Generation

This woman was born to have granddaughters. It was always her and the boys as she and her husband raised 3 wonderful sons. Now she's blessed with daughters-in-law who have given her precious little bundles of pink.
