I love living in Oregon wine country. Especially when just across the road is the Sufi Vineyard, owned and operated by Keyvan and Vicki Abtin. Judging by the class act operation that they run, I'm certain they have found their passion. It shows in the meticulously cared for vines and their hands on approach to growing the little purple beauties.
After spending several mornings at the vineyard I could't help but notice the reciprocal respect between these grape growers and the many workers who help them bring in the harvest. Its quite telling to know that Keyvan couldn't resist stopping in the field on his way out, dressed for work in slacks and a starched shirt and tie, to pick the first bucket of the 2014 harvest. Some things you just don't want to miss out on. And it didn't go unnoticed that Vicki layed out a huge lunch spread for the pickers. They're just that kind of people.
As for me, I'm patiently waiting to sample the fruits of all the labor that's been going on around here. Cheers!
